Lee Dam (Hyeri) is a happy-go-lucky student. One night, she encounters Shin Woo-Yeo (Jang Ki-Yong), a handsome man who also happens to be a 999-year-old gumiho. (That's a nine-tailed trickster fox from Korean mythology, in case you were wondering.) In their first interaction, a magical, colored energy bead critical to Woo-Yeo's future is accidentally swallowed by Dam, and so Woo-Yeo must now protect her if he has any chance of finally becoming human before his 1000 year lifespan is up.
When Woo-Yeo starts teaching at the University, it becomes increasingly difficult to hide their relationship — and the fact that she's living with him — from the other students, Dam's friends, and the attention of the school's most handsome student, Gye Sun-Woo (Bae In-Hyuk). Along our journey, we meet the beautiful Kang Han-na as Yang Hye-Sun, a former gumiho become human who has known Woo-Yeo for centuries, and a mysterious mountain spirit who keeps throwing a spanner — or a red thread — into the works.
